How is zakat calculated?+−
Add cash, gold, silver, shares and receivables, subtract debts; if net reaches nisab, 2.5% is commonly due. This tool is arithmetic help — not a fatwa.
What is nisab?+−
The minimum threshold before zakat is due. This page offers two common options (gold / silver gram equivalents); they are not a universal ruling — madhhabs and institutions may differ.
Gold or silver nisab?+−
Pick one; the threshold uses the price you enter. Local practice may differ.
Where do the gram thresholds come from?+−
Defaults reflect a widespread modern gram reading of classical measures (about 85 g gold / 595 g silver). Treat them as common practice, not a universal verdict — confirm with Diyanet or your local authority.
22k vs 21k?+−
Pure gold = grams × (karat/24). The same grams of 22k hold more pure gold than 21k, so values and thresholds move accordingly.
Why do I enter gold/silver prices?+−
No live rate is fetched (no stale API). Enter today’s per-gram price; wrong prices yield wrong amounts.
Are debts subtracted?+−
Yes in v1 — debts you enter reduce net assets. Which debts count can vary by madhhab.
Are shares included?+−
Amounts you enter in money terms are added; which assets are zakatable can be disputed — ask an authority.
Jewellery / wearable gold?+−
On tr/az we ask via a toggle (often counted in Hanafi practice; other views differ). The tool asks your preference; it does not issue a ruling.
Who pays zakat?+−
Classically those who own nisab after debts. For your situation ask a local scholar / Diyanet.
When is zakat due?+−
Often after one lunar year (hawl); many pay in Ramadan. For dates use a Hijri converter; official local announcements prevail.
Must I pay in Ramadan?+−
Not a single mandatory day; it is a common preference. Ask your authority about timing and intention.
If I am below nisab?+−
The tool shows 0 and notes you are under the threshold; voluntary charity is a separate topic.
Why might Diyanet differ?+−
Price, gold vs silver nisab, jewellery and which debts count can differ — ± variance is normal; this is not a fatwa.
Which currency?+−
Use your own label; keep all items and prices in the same unit.
Is my data uploaded?+−
No. Calculation stays in the browser; there is no price API.
Hijri date / when is Ramadan?+−
This page calculates amounts; use a Hijri date converter for calendar questions (country announcements can differ by ±1 day).
Is this a religious ruling?+−
No. Informational only — consult Diyanet or the competent authority where you live.
