Frequently asked questions

Does cropping lower the quality or turn text into an image?

No. The tool changes the page's crop box and media box - the area viewers and printers show. The content itself isn't re-rendered, so text stays selectable and searchable, and the file size barely changes.

Is the part I cut off deleted?

It's hidden, not erased: like every PDF crop, the content outside the box is still inside the file and can be restored by software that edits page boxes. To remove sensitive content for good, use Redact PDF instead.

How does "Trim white margins" work?

Each page is drawn in your browser and the tool looks for the first rows and columns that aren't paper-white, ignoring tiny specks. With "Same crop for all pages" it chooses the smallest margin on each side so nothing on any page gets cut; with "Each page separately" every page gets its own tight box.

Can I crop odd and even pages differently?

Yes. Choose "Each page separately" and adjust pages one by one, or crop the odd pages with one box and download, then open the result and crop the even pages.

What about pages that are rotated?

You always crop what you see. The tool works out which side of the page's own box that is, so rotated and landscape pages are cropped exactly as shown.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened, drawn and saved by your own browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and once the page has loaded it works offline too.
