Tips for an accepted photo
- Face the camera straight on with a neutral expression, mouth closed and both eyes open.
- Stand in front of a plain, light wall with even light and no shadows on your face or behind you.
- Take off glasses (required for the US, UK and many others) and hats; keep hair away from your eyes.
- Have someone else take the photo from about 1.5 m away at eye level – selfies distort the face.
- Use a recent photo (taken in the last 6 months) without filters or retouching.
- Print on glossy or matte photo paper; don't print on plain paper for official use.
