Is the wheel really random?+−
Yes. Before the wheel moves, the winner is drawn with your browser's cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), the same source used for passwords and encryption keys. The animation is then aimed at a random spot inside the winning slice, so where it stops can't be steered and every entry's chance is exactly its share of the wheel.
How do I give an entry a better chance?+−
Write *2, *3 and so on after it, for example "Alice *3". Alice then gets a slice three times as wide and three times the chance of an entry without a number. You can also simply list a name twice.
How do I pick winners without repeats?+−
Tick "Remove the winner after each spin", or press "Remove from wheel" after a spin. The winner comes off the wheel and the next spin draws from the rest - handy for raffles, turn orders and secret-santa style draws. "Put back removed entries" restores them.
Can I save or share my wheel?+−
Your list, title and settings are kept in this browser, so they're still there next time. "Copy link to this wheel" puts the list in the part of the link after #, which browsers never send to a server - anyone who opens the link gets the same wheel without it passing through gizke.com.
How many entries can the wheel hold?+−
Up to 1,000. With more than a few dozen the slices get thin and long names are shortened on the wheel, but they're always shown in full when they win.
Can I use it in a classroom or on a stream?+−
Yes. Full screen shows just the wheel, large, for a projector or screen share, and the click of the pointer and the winner chime can be switched off. Press Space or Enter to spin when the wheel is focused.
