Online Notepad

Runs on your device. Nothing is sent.
Words: 0Characters: 0Lines: 0Saved on this device

A private notepad in your browser: notes save as you type, stay on this device and work offline - with search, .txt download and backups.

A notepad that opens instantly and keeps your notes private. Everything is saved in this browser as you type - no account, no cloud, no upload - and it keeps working without a connection. Keep as many notes as you like, find them with search, open a .txt or .md file, download a note, back up all of them in one file, and write in any language: the text direction follows what you type, so Arabic and Persian read right to left.

Frequently asked questions

Where are my notes saved?
In this browser's local storage on this device, and nowhere else. They are never uploaded, so they don't follow you to another browser or phone, and other people using this site can't see them. In a private or incognito window they're deleted when the window closes.
Could I lose my notes?
Yes, if this site's data is cleared - by "Clear browsing data", a cleanup app, or a browser short on space. The notepad asks the browser to keep its storage, but to be safe download a backup now and then; Restore backup brings everything back, here or in another browser.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, typing, saving, searching and downloading all work without a connection, because nothing ever needs the network.
Can I open my notes on another device?
Not automatically - there is deliberately no sync, so your notes never pass through a server. Download a note or a backup, move the file however you like, and open or restore it on the other device.
Is it safe for passwords?
It's private but not encrypted: anyone who can use this browser profile can open the page and read the notes. For passwords use a password manager, and to protect a text with a password use our Encrypt Files tool.
Can I use several tabs at once?
Yes. A note changed in one tab is updated in the others, and every note is saved on its own, so editing one never overwrites another.
