Does this read barcodes like the one on my driver's license or a product?
Only standard QR codes. Many ID cards, driver's licenses and product packages actually use a different format - Data Matrix, PDF417, Code 128 or EAN/UPC - which our dedicated barcode reader supports instead.
How can I tell a QR code from a Data Matrix code?
QR codes have three large square markers in three of their four corners. Data Matrix codes are usually smaller and square, with a solid border on two adjacent sides and a dashed pattern on the other two - no large corner markers.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Scanning and generating both happen locally in your browser - nothing is sent to a server.
The camera isn't finding anything, what can I do?
Make sure the QR code is in focus, well lit and fills a good part of the frame. If it's a different kind of code (like the one on an ID card or product), try our barcode reader instead.
