Does this reduce the quality of my photo?

Accepted Answer

The watermark itself is drawn as new pixels on top of your image, so it doesn't degrade the original photo underneath. The final download is re-encoded as JPEG, which is the same lossy compression nearly every photo already goes through, so there's no additional quality loss beyond the one re-encoding step.

Why tile the watermark instead of just placing it in a corner?

A single corner watermark can often be cropped out entirely, leaving the rest of the image unmarked. Tiling the watermark across the whole photo at low opacity makes it much harder to remove without visibly damaging the image, which is why it's the standard approach for stock photo previews.

Can I remove a watermark that's already baked into an image?

Accepted Answer

Not with this tool. Once a watermark has been composited into an image's pixels - whether by this tool or any other - it's part of the image data itself, not a separate layer that can be cleanly peeled off. This tool only adds watermarks, it doesn't attempt to remove existing ones.
