Translate text to Morse code and back, then play it as sound, light or vibration and save a WAV file. Latin, Cyrillic, Arabic, Japanese, Korean and more.

Type a message to get Morse code, or paste dots and dashes to read them - the direction is detected for you. Listen at any speed with Farnsworth spacing, watch it as a flashing light (full screen turns a phone into a signal lamp), feel it as vibration, or save it as a WAV file. Besides International Morse with accented letters and prosigns, it reads and writes the Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Persian, Japanese Wabun and Korean alphabets.

Frequently asked questions

How do I translate Morse code to text?
Paste or type the code with a space between letters and a slash (/) between words, for example .... .. / - .... . .-. . The page recognises Morse on its own and shows the text. Pasted symbols like · and − work too. A code that means nothing in the chosen alphabet shows as ?, so you can spot a mistyped letter.
What is SOS in Morse code?
... --- ... (three dots, three dashes, three dots). As a distress signal it's sent as one run without letter gaps, a prosign; type <SOS> to get it that way, or SOS for the three letters.
What do WPM and Farnsworth mean?
WPM is words per minute, measured with the word PARIS: at 20 WPM a dot lasts 60 ms, a dash three dots, and the gaps between letters and words three and seven dots. Farnsworth timing keeps the letters at full speed but stretches the gaps, so learners hear each letter's rhythm without being rushed.
Does it work for languages other than English?
Yes. Accented letters like Ä, Ç, Ñ, Ö, Ş and Ü have their own codes, and others are sent as their base letter. Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Persian, Japanese kana (Wabun) and Korean Hangul have their own Morse alphabets: choose one to decode, since the same dots and dashes mean different letters in each. Chinese is sent as four-digit telegraph codes, which this page doesn't cover.
Can I send Morse with light or vibration?
Turn on "Flash a light" and press Play: the panel lights up with every dot and dash, and full screen makes the whole phone screen flash. On Android phones the device also vibrates in time; iPhones don't let websites vibrate.
Is my message sent anywhere?
No. Translation, sound and the WAV file are all made in your browser, so the page also works offline. A copied link keeps your message in the address after ?q= - share it only with people who may read it.
