JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF - converted right here, never uploaded

Turn any photo or logo into ASCII art - choose the width and character set, tweak brightness and contrast, add colour, then copy the text or save a PNG.

Drop in a photo, logo or screenshot and watch it redrawn in characters. Pick how many characters wide the art should be, choose a character set - a simple ten-step ramp, a detailed seventy-character one, solid blocks or a minimal one - and adjust brightness and contrast until faces and edges read well. Invert it for light text on a dark terminal, or switch on colour to keep the original hues. Copy the text for a README, chat or code comment, download it as a .txt, or save the result as a PNG.

Frequently asked questions

Which images work best?
High-contrast pictures with a clear subject: portraits against a plain background, logos and silhouettes. Busy photos turn into noise at small widths - raise the contrast, or crop to the subject first.
Why does my ASCII art look stretched?
Characters are about twice as tall as they are wide, so the converter samples half as many rows. If it still looks off, the place you pasted it uses a different font - ASCII art only lines up in a monospace font.
What width should I choose?
80 characters fits a classic terminal and most code comments; 100-150 suits a README or a PNG; chat apps wrap long lines, so stay around 40-60 there.
Is my image uploaded?
No. It's read into a canvas in your browser, converted there and never sent anywhere.
